Candidate Endorsement

The Leicester Public Schools do not endorse any one candidate for political office.  Although our staff has the right to participate in political activity to the same extent as every other citizen, they do so as individual citizens, rather than as representatives of the Leicester Public Schools.  Our policy about staff participation in political activities can be accessed through the School Committee webpage or through this link.  Any transgressions relating to this policy are immediately investigated.  We regret any misinformation that may have been provided without our explicit permission.
Seeking Leicester Families to Host International Students

Leicester High School is welcoming international students from China for the spring 2015 semester. As part of the school district’s effort to expand its global education program, we have partnered with the Cambridge Institute of International Education to provide this exciting opportunity.

We are working with gphomestay, a sister company of the Cambridge Institute of International Education, to offer an incredible opportunity to families in Leicester. If you are interested in making a positive impact on the life of an international student, consider becoming a host family!

Host families will be given a substantial stipend for providing students with meals, a private room, and for welcoming the students into their homes. 24/7 support will be provided from residential coordinators to help coordinate meeting your student upon arrival, keeping you connected with the school community, and mediating issues if they arise. Families of all types, ethnicities, backgrounds and sizes are welcome.

To learn more about becoming a host family, read the linked flyer and please contact Victoria Clerkin at vclerkin@gphomestay.com (781-996-0443) or visit gphomestay at www.gphomestay.com for more information.
News About Enterovirus D68

There has been concerning news about enterovirus D68 associated with severe respiratory illness that has been especially harmful to children.  Below are CDC resources about EV-D68 developed for parents:

BUS Transportation Survey

We are collecting information from families that do not utilize our transportation services this year.  We are considering eliminating the bus pass system for next year but need to have a measure of how many families who do not currently purchase bus passes would have their children ride the bus if it were free.  Once we know this information we can figure out how many buses we would need to transport all students who want bus transportation.  Because this information does depend on where you live, the survey asks for an address.  Please fill in the address whether or not you would want free bus transportation.  We need to track all surveys.

If you currently DO NOT get a bus pass, please fill out this simple survey within the next week (by November 4th).  We will be following up this electronic survey with a telephone call for any families that do not fill out the electronic survey.  Hopefully, that won't be many!  Thanks, in advance, for your help.
